Please ensure you wear comfortable walking ( flat ) shoes to walk approximately 2km. The walk is quite flat we will walk over uneven surfaces
Please wear appropriate clothes for the weather including a sunhat and sunscreen in the summer and coat and umbrella in cooler months, Melbourne is notoriously changeable!
Please bring a water bottle. We will stop of coffee

Australia’s connection to 19th century French impressionist art is far reaching and has forever shaped the art history of our golden lands. The impressionist artworks made infamous by Monet and contemporaries at the avantgarde artist colony of Belle-Île-en-Mer, Brittany, France in the late 1800’s, changed forever with the arrival of one intrepid Australian artist, John Russell.
Join one of our charismatic art historians who will guide you on this thrilling and educational tour where the story of Australia's Lost Impressionist, John Russell, will be brought to life. You will walk through the lesser known Melbourne laneways and historic buildings, the sites of 19tth century galleries, artist studios and meeting places of artists of Melbourne's Victorian, Heidelberg School of Art. Enjoy the enigmatic story of the rise of this art movement that was to become known as Australian Impressionism and how friendships between the artists in France and in Melbourne influenced paintings we see today.
Offering engaging insight into the city’s connection to Monet and the Impressionism art movement in Melbourne, we will finish this tour enjoying a visit to some of the most well known original artworks in the National Gallery of Victoria.
